Summary

Colombia has no comprehensive crypto law; trading and holding are legal but unregulated. The Superintendencia Financiera de Colombia (SFC) ran a supervised sandbox ('la arenera') from 2021 to 2023 and prohibits supervised financial entities from holding or intermediating cryptoassets. AML reporting exists via the UIAF (Resolution 314 of 2021), DIAN treats crypto as taxable intangible assets, and the Superintendencia de Sociedades issued Chapter X of its Basic Legal Circular. Several VASP/crypto regulation bills have been debated and failed, so a formal framework remains under consideration.
