Summary

Peru has no comprehensive crypto framework; cryptoassets are legal to hold and trade but lack a legal definition. The main regulatory step is AML: Supreme Decree No. 006-2023-JUS brought crypto exchanges (PSAV) under the FIU (UIF, part of the SBS) reporting regime, and SBS Resolution No. 02648-2024 (in force 2 August 2024) sets detailed AML/CFT obligations for VASPs, including a Travel Rule chapter effective August 2026. A 'Framework Law for the Commercialization of Cryptoassets' (Bill No. 1042-2021-CR) remains under congressional debate.
