Argentina
Legal Summary
Argentina treats crypto as legal but unregulated as a means of payment, applying an AML-driven registration regime rather than a comprehensive market law. Law 27.739 (2024) reformed the AML framework and designated the Comision Nacional de Valores (CNV) to maintain a mandatory Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP/PSAV) registry, established by CNV General Resolution 994/2024. CNV General Resolution 1058/2025 set out the substantive prudential, custody, cybersecurity, AML/CFT and advertising rules for registered VASPs. Crypto capital gains are subject to income tax and holdings fall under the Bienes Personales wealth tax.
